Silicone heads take heat to 446°F without softening or giving off smell, and they slide over nonstick coating instead of cutting into it. The handles are beech, fitted tight to the heads so the two do not separate over a year of dishwasher cycles, and finished to resist fading. Black hides use better than pale colours — worth knowing if the set lives on the hob side of the counter.
